A short photo tour from the Victoria Park TTC subway station north on Victoria Park Ave past the Dentonia Park Golf Course, and west along the Taylor-Massey Creek path to the parking lot at Dawes Road where the Taylor Creek Trail continues west.
Victoria Park subway station
We start this ride at 777 Victoria Park Avenue – the Victoria Park TTC subway station on the Bloor Danforth / Line 2. At this point the subway is a couple of blocks north of the Danforth. Exit at the far west side of the station, just beyond the buses. There is an indoor, secure Bicycle Parking Station run by the City of Toronto here, and some public bike tools. There is also a paid, surface parking lot here.
Heading north past the golf course to the trail
We’ll turn to our right and head north up Victoria Park Ave. On our right is the Dentonia Park Golf Course run by the City of Toronto, on the old estate of Walter and Susan Massey. On the left are the apartments and condos of Crescent Town.
Victoria Park is a busy enough road, so be careful, even on the wide shoulder. Past the light at Crescent Town Road you will see an opening in the guardrail and the entrance on the west side that leads down the long stairway (we’ll see a picture from the bottom, in a minute).
Main entrance to the trail
Instead we’ll continue north, with the golf course on our right, until we see the main entrance to Taylor Creek Park on the left at roughly 879 Victoria Park Avenue.
The trail circles back south, down a steep hill to a 90 degree turn at the bottom in the ravine at the river. Be careful, and remember down hill riders must stop and yield to up hill riders!
Once you are at the bottom of the hill, you can look to the left at the stairs up to the earlier park entrance we saw as we were heading north on Victoria Park. Directly ahead is the river.
We’ll turn to our right, and head west along the north side of the river through the ravine.
The path was only recently re-opened in the summer of 2024, and at the time there was still work to be done along the path just east of the bridge where the path goes under Dawes Road.
Parking lot and continuing west
Once under the Dawes Road bridge you’ll cross over the river, and be at the parking lot at 200 Dawes Road.
At this point you can continue west along Taylor Creek to the Elevated Wetlands path that we’ve also documented.
