Mount Pleasant cemetery is known for its wide variety of trees – but in late April through early May it is the cherry blossom trees north of the entrance on the east side of Yonge Street that steal the show, as they do every spring. Shortlink: wholemap.com\/Blossoms<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please remember that this is an active cemetery – respect the graves and grave stones, watch where you walk and remain on the paths. Also be aware that there may be a burial service going on with grieving friends and families.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 update – lots of colour on April 28th<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are more cherry blossoms in the cemetery besides the trees along Yonge Street, below. Well worth a walk at any time of year, maybe up to see the stained glass windows in the old stone mausoleums<\/a> for instance. Here are a couple of other flowering trees from this year on April 28th. Just up the hill from Yonge street is the St. Andrew’s Society Cairn and Obelisk erected in 1891:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 update – blooms out on April 19th<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Every year I wonder when the blooms were out last year – so here the state of the blossom’s on Friday, April 19th, 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are on the TTC take the Yonge subway to Davisville Station and walk south down Yonge Street – you can see the trees from the subway – look to your right as the subway comes outside after going north from St. Clair station along the Line 1 Yonge-University<\/em> line.<\/p>\n\n\n

While you are there be sure to enjoy the rest of the cemetery grounds, maybe walk up to the Lost stations of the Toronto Beltline<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n
